Eagle Manufacturing adds 14th Davis-Standard blow molder

The maker of industrial storage, handling and security products is using the 40-pound dual-accumulator-head machine primarily to manufacture large storage drums from chemical-resistant HDPE.

Eagle Manufacturing Co. — a maker of industrial storage, handling and security products — in May added its 14th Davis-Standard blow molding machine.

The 40-pound dual-accumulator-head machine primarily molds large storage drums made of chemical-resistant HDPE.

Eagle Manufacturing has been purchasing Davis-Standard equipment for more than 30 years.

Davis-Standard collaborates with Eagle Manufacturing’s team to engineer machine specifications, including custom feedscrew designs, according to its processes and product ranges.

“This latest blow molder has already been excellent with even faster cycle times than our existing machines,” said Dave Harvey, Eagle Manufacturing’s VP of operations. “One of the best improvements from previous models is the cooling design with forced-air blowers on the barrel. We’re able to maintain consistent process temperature control without dealing with the maintenance of a closed-loop system.”

In addition to selling Eagle Manufacturing new equipment, Davis-Standard over a period of years has retrofitted the company’s used non-Davis-Standard machines to improve performance, Davis-Standard said. Quality control upgrades, spiral core tube retrofits, head reconditioning and replacement screws have improved equipment efficiency, the OEM said.

Eagle Manufacturing, based in Wellsburg, W.Va., manufactures fuel safety cans, disposal cans, safety cabinets, spill containment pallets, outdoor ashtrays and plastic barrels, among other products.
