Reifenhäuser expands die service, adds business unit

June 18, 2018

Extrusion machinery and equipment company Reifenhäuser Group, Troisdorf, Germany, is strengthening its position in the North American market with several activities, including the addition of a new business unit and the expansion of its service business for dies in Maize, Kan.

During NPE, Reifenhäuser unveiled its Reifenhäuser Extrusion Systems unit, which includes Reiloy, Enka Tecnica and EDS GmbH, a maker of flat dies that it acquired in January. The Extrusion Systems business will focus on developing and manufacturing screws, barrels, film tools, extruders, screen changers and spinnerets.

Uwe Gaedike is managing director of the new business unit. He said that Reifenhäuser is expanding capacities in Maize, where it plans to start reworking film dies and spinnerets this year.

"In order to make that possible, we're investing in machines and devices, including our own surface plating," he said. "Another step might be to produce and offer complete assembled extruders or flat dies in the U.S."
