In 2011, OSHA conducted a review of the logout/tagout standard of Michigan OSHA to determine if it was "at least as effective in providing safe and healthful employment and places of employment as the federally established standards." Its finding was that the Michigan standard allows for a lower level of protection for employees than is required by OSHA and conflicts with OSHA requirements, so that an employer could be in compliance with the Michigan standard and still not be in compliance with federal OSHA requirements.
