Machining centers Makino has updated the controls for its newest machining centers with ProNetConnex, a new smart factory platform that gives users the ability to collect, transfer and store machine data from the shop floor and across the entire supply chain. ProNetConnex can provide connectivity to local networks or the cloud, as well as act as an interface for other software platforms, such as enterprise resource planning systems, for evaluating machine data. Machine sensors can be added to machines to expand data-collection capabilities. ProNetConnex is compatible with many leading software management systems, including Makino's own MPmax system.

What's new? The platform, which Makino displayed at the International Manufacturing Technology Show a few months ago. It is built into Makino's latest machine controller, the Professional 6, or Pro6, and is being added to other Makino control systems.
