Die redesign features lip-adjustment system

Oct. 24, 2016
Nordson's flat extrusion die, the EDI Autoflex VI, has been redesigned with a new lip-adjustment system.

EDI Autoflex VI die Nordson's flat extrusion die, the EDI Autoflex VI, has been redesigned with a new lip-adjustment system, designated as the EDI Autoflex VI-E. The die's thermally actuated copper alloy translators provide gauge control by causing the die gap to increase or decrease. The lip-adjustment system, which is available as a modular version that can be removed from the die, also is retrofittable on existing dies. It can be purchased with either convective or forced-air cooling.

What's new? The lip-adjustment system, which is much smaller and more streamlined than the previous version. With the updates, it now has a 43 percent larger stroke.

Benefits Ability to adjust for a wider range of process variations, compared to earlier versions. With its larger stroke, the EDI Autoflex VI-E system's has a greater ability to correct for changes in throughput, line speed, target thickness and other parameters. In addition to the stroke upgrades, the new die's lip-adjustment system has been designed for easier, faster maintenance.
