Firm releases smaller, cheaper version of EOS printer system

This new, compact printer provides an entry-level option for direct metal laser sintering of mold inserts.

EOS M 100 This new, compact printer provides an entry-level option for direct metal laser sintering of mold inserts. Carrying a price of about $350,000, it is based on the bigger EOS M 290 and costs about half as much as more robust, industrial systems. The printer, which has a build platform diameter of about 4 inches, can process two materials, EOS CobaltChrome SP2 and EOS StainlessSteel 316L. A third material, EOS Titanium Ti64, is expected to be available for use with the machine later this year.

What's new? The system, which debuted at the recent formnext show in Germany.
