SmartGap Nordson EDI's lip and land positioning system for sheet dies encompasses die gap adjustments over a range of 10.2mm, which enables manufacturers to extend the range of thicknesses they can produce. Nordson EDI exhibited the new technology at NPE.
What's new? The single-point adjustment mechanism. The mechanism changes the lip gap while simultaneously modifying the length of the lip land to provide the most appropriate conditions for the newly adjusted thickness as the sheet exits the die. By mechanically linking the adjustment of these two process variables for the first time, the system ensures a proper setup of the die.
Benefits Fast changes to sheet thickness. The system eliminates extended shutdowns that are sometimes required for changes in lip components, reducing the time from hours to a few minutes and allowing multiple product changes per day.
