PTI hand-held probe measures inner temp of preforms

Feb. 24, 2015

Pretemp probe This hand-held probe is used to measure the temperature of preforms in the reheat stretch blow molding production of PET bottles.

What's new? It measures a preform's interior temperature, unlike traditional methodologies, which measure exterior temperature. An array of precision noncontact infrared sensors provide a temperature profile to the operator, who can adjust heating lamps to drive heat through the preform wall. The PreTemp can measure and record up to 16 data points simultaneously. It also can be used to identify process changes during routine operation and troubleshoot heat-related issues.

Benefits An interior temperature profile helps in avoiding temperature-related issues that lead to poor thickness distribution, inferior bottle performance and wasted energy.
