OPM250L Designed for use within the mold and die industry, Sodick's 3-D metal printer combines laser metal sintering and high-speed milling.

What's new? U.S. availability of the printer, which has been previously available in Japan. Sodick plans to show the printer for the first time in the U.S. next month at the International Manufacturing Technology Show.

Benefits Integrated milling capabilities, and reduced machining times. The printer's mill can finish molds and parts throughout the printing process. Also, compared to some other 3-D printers, the OPM250L has a stronger laser and higher melting ratio, allowing it to create very dense molds with conformal cooling channels. It has achieved reductions of as much as 55 percent in manufacturing times, and in some cases reduced the number of machines needed to complete individual jobs.
