3D Systems Corp., Rock Hill, S.C., is buying its way into international expansion. The company has announced a definitive agreement to purchase Cimatron Ltd., Givat Shmuel, Israel, for $97 million.
Cimatron provides integrated three-dimensional CAD/CAM software products for manufacturing. The products are used worldwide for 3-D production molds, tools and dies.
Separately, 3D Systems also announced that it completed the acquisition of Robtec do Brasil, São Paulo. Robtec's business is focused on additive manufacturing services. Its clients include Embraer, Siemens, Volkswagen, Fiat, CenPra, Visteon and Mercedes.
The acquisition represents the cornerstone of 3D Systems' expansion plans in Latin America, said Avi Reichental, president and CEO of 3D Systems.
