Lasertec SLM offers adjustable laser control

Aug. 16, 2023
The printers from DMG Mori can efficiently produce finished parts for molds and tooling applications for plastics production.

Lasertec SLM series The Selective Laser Melting (SLM) metal powder bed 3D printers in DMG Mori’s SLM series are capable of producing finished parts that can be used in molds and tooling applications for plastics production.

What’s new? The Lasertec 30 SLM US, which was launched in May at RAPID + TCT 2023 and will be available for delivery in December. While most SLM machines have a constant laser profile and size, the new offering has Adaptive Beam Control, which allows it to dynamically adjust the laser’s power, speed and dwell time, along with offering seven different laser profiles.

Benefits  Improved efficiency and part quality. Adaptive Beam Control optimizes the laser’s profile for fast bulk material melting on large portions of parts, then can change it for portions that require fine details. This efficiency can cut cycle times and production costs. The Lasertec 30 SLM US also features improvements that include a custom-made filter that extends its service life from 300 hours to 1,500 hours, and a service-friendly design that requires fewer consumable components makes changing those consumables and performing calibration easier – all leading to decreased downtime.
